Privacy
Feather reads your screen only when you press the shortcut, and forgets it when the panel closes.
In the app
When you press the shortcut, Feather captures the app and window name, the text in the focused field and your selection, readable text from the active window, and a screenshot of it when you turn that on. It sends them with your instruction to the provider you chose, and discards them when the panel closes. Feather logs generation timings only, never what was on screen, what you asked, or what it wrote.
With your own key, requests go straight from your Mac to that provider, under its own privacy policy. Your key stays in the macOS Keychain.
With Feather Plus
Feather Plus runs your requests on hosted models so you don't need your own key. Your instructions, screen context, screenshots, and replies pass through our server to the model provider and are never stored. We route only to providers with a zero data retention policy.
We keep:
- Your email address, to sign you in.
- Your plan and subscription status, from Stripe.
- Usage counts per billing period: number of requests and tokens, without content.
- Sign-in sessions and tokens, stored only as one-way hashes.
Payments are processed by Stripe and sign-in emails are sent by Resend. Each handles only what it needs for that task. This site sets one cookie, to keep you signed in, and loads nothing from third parties.
